Lay an appropriately sized chain link fence on the surface. Drag mats are used on lawns after they have been freshly sowed or partly reseeded to make them less patchy. Use a cutting torch to cut a rectangular piece of grating to a size of 4 feet by 6 feet and then attach a chain to one of the 6 foot sides. I have about 4 acres of woods i can make a food plot with and a new atv but i have seen the prices of some of the attachments and it just ain t in the cards.

A 4ft x 6ft width by length drag works for a start though you can make it longer than 6 foot as per your. Add weight to the drag mat by placing a couple of old boards across the 4 foot width. For larger areas attach the mat to a lawn or garden tractor. We built this using only items we had on hand in our shop that we had collected over the ye.

Industrial drag mats and harrows are pulled behind tractors but a smaller version simply made from chain link fence can be pulled by hand or by a ride on mower.
